Located 14 miles (23 km) from the mouth of the river, the bridge is 4.1 miles (6.6 km) long and was the last completed segment of U.S. Route 101 between Olympia, Washington, and Los Angeles, California. It is the longest continuous truss bridge in North America.
Columbia River Maritime Museum - Definitely learned a lot about the tides and challenges of crossing the Columbia into the Pacific Ocean. The museum had interactive maps to show shipwrecks and did a great job explaining the challenges that fisherman and coast guards have dealing with the water and the mouth of the river.

Astoria Column - If you're going to Astoria, or even driving through, take a half hour or so to stop at the column. The incline drive is neat and then once at the top, the views are amazing! You can even climb to the top of the column.

Sacramento

Sacramento is the capital city of the U.S. state of California and the seat of Sacramento County. It is at the confluence of the Sacramento River and the American River in the northern portion of California's expansive Central Valley. This is the sixth-largest city in California, and the 35th largest city in the United States.
California State Capitol and Museum - A one-hour tour in the capitol is a must if you are in the area. This section of downtown Sacramento was quite green, more upscale and clean.
Sacramento Zoo - The zoo is always a good time. It's kinda small and doesn't have as many animals as I remember but still fun for the family.
You can also visit "CA State Railroad Museum", "Old Sacramento", "Tower Bridge", Kids friendly "Fairy tale town" and other Parks and Museums.
