Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada of the United States. At a surface elevation of 6,225 ft (1,897 m), it straddles the border between California and Nevada, west of Carson City. Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America. Its depth is 1,645 ft (501 m), making it the second deepest in the United States after Crater Lake (1,945 ft (593 m)). Additionally, Lake Tahoe is the sixth largest lake by volume in the United States at 122,160,280 acre·ft (150,682,490 dam3), behind the five Great Lakes.

Top Reasons to go:
THE LAKE Blue, deep, and alpine pure, Lake Tahoe is far and away the main reason to visit this High Sierra paradise.

SKIING Whether you're an expert, a beginner, or somewhere in between, the numerous Tahoe-area ski parks abound with slopes to suit your skills.

THE GREAT OUTDOORS A ring of national forests and recreation areas linked by miles of trails makes Tahoe excellent for nature lovers.

DINNER WITH A VIEW You can picnic lakeside at state parks or dine in restaurants perched along the shore.

Emerald Bay State Park

Absolutely must-see. Water, mountains, mature forest - one can spend entire day walking around. Very well maintained trails and vista point. On another side of Emerald Bay, there is a mile-long walk down to medieval castle, build in 1930s.

The Gondola at Heavenly

We took a ride on the Gondola and had the best time. The views were breathtaking. The ride was smooth and worth the time. Regardless of whether you are planning to bike, hike or ski after you exit the gondola, riding it is a definite must for anyone looking to savor the amazing view of Lake Tahoe.

Make sure to stop midway up and take in all the views. While the 2.4 miles journey to the lodge is spectacular in its own way, you will be able to savor the amazing natural beauty even more when you arrive at the top where you can stop by the sports shop, have a cup of coffee at the cafe or just soak up the view form the observation desk.
With my friends at Lake Tahoe
There are lots of places for trekking too if you are interested in Trekking. Eagle lake, Fallen leaf lake falls are few such nice places.
